1st half of the year
  • Invited the Anhui Province City Management Association for an exchange visit to Taiwan in March and held a welcome dinner at Cosmos Hotel Taipei on 17th March.

  • Published the 4th issue of the Journal of Urban Management (Vol.2 No.2).
Nov.
  • Launched the official website of the Chinese Association of Urban Management (CAUM).

  • 11/15 Successfully convened the Third Board Meeting of 2013-15 Directors and Supervisors at Brother Hotel, Taipei.
  • 11/17 Organized a visit by the Anhui Province City Management Association to Taiwan and held a welcome dinner at Yun Fu Lou Restaurant, Taipei.
  • Invited Assistant Professor Ou Chung-Ya from the Nanfang College of Sun Yat-sen University at Guangzhou to be the CAUM’s contact person based in Guangzhou.

1st half of the year
  • May Exchange visit from the Chongqing Planning Association.
  • June Exchange visit from the Anhui Province City Management Association; second exchange visit from the Chongqing Planning Association.
  • July Third exchange visit from the Chongqing Planning Association.
Aug.
  • Directors Hung Chi-Tung and Hsueh Min-Shen were invited as representatives to attend the dinner held for the visiting delegation from Jiahe County in Hunan Province.
Sep.
  • Collaboration with the Association for Promoting the Development of Chinese Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Relations— Invited the visiting delegation (consisting of Director Ye and others) from the Bureau of City Management in Lishui City for an exchange visit to Taiwan.
  • 9/14 Convened the First Annual General Meeting and Board Meeting of 2013-15 Directors and Supervisors to re-elect the 2013-15 directors, supervisors, chief director, and deputy chief director (Chief Director Lai Shih-Kung was re-elected). (The meeting minutes have been submitted to relevant authorities for review, and the approval letter for the next year and the certificate of election for the 2013-15 chief director have been obtained.)
  • Invited Professor Hsieh Chun-Ming to be the CAUM’s contact person for Shanghai; later, collaborated with the Cross-Straits Interchange & Development Foundation.
Nov.
  • 11/25 Banquet for the Cross-Straits Interchange & Development Foundation— A total of 31 guests from the Anhui Province City Management Association, Straits Exchange Foundation, and Chinese Association of Urban Management attended the banquet.
  • The Cross-Straits Interchange & Development Foundation completed the closure report on this visit by mid-December, and the report was sent to relevant authorities for future reference.
Dec.
  • 12/28 Convened the Second Board Meeting of 2013-15 Directors and Supervisors
    (An article titled “The ‘Illinois School’ of Thinking About Plans” was presented and shared at the meeting as a topic for exchanging opinions.)
  • 12/28 Meal meeting (& the Second Board Meeting of 2013-15 Directors and Supervisors) The two events were successfully held after more than two hours of lively discussion among the participating directors and supervisors.

1st half of the year
  • 2/6 Invited Lecturer Hsing Jin-Win to serve as the CAUM’s contact person for Central Taiwan
  • 8/8 Invited Associate Professor Yu Ju-Ling to be the CAUM’s contact person for Southern Taiwan.
  • 8/31 Collaborated with the Alumni Association of the Department of Real Estate & Built Environment at National Taipei University (Chief Director Wang and Officer Liu) to promote and publicize the recruitment of CAUM members.
  • Completed the settlement and reporting of the 2011 income tax before 31st May.
  • March Published the 1st issue of the Journal of Urban Management.
Sep.
  • Collaborated with National Taipei University in promoting “urban management” through the proposal of the “International Program on Urban Governance” (approved by the Ministry of Education in October 2011 and launched officially in September 2012).
Oct.
  • 10/25-26 Arranged for the visiting delegation a visit to the Urban & Rural Development Department of New Taipei City on 10/25 and a visit to the Department of Urban Development of Taipei City Government on 10/26.
Nov.
  • 11/3 (Sat.) Held the Fourth Board Meeting of 2011-13 Directors and Supervisors on Saturday.
Dec.
  • 12/8 Convened the Fifth Board Meeting of 2011-13 Directors and Supervisors, and invited Professor Lin Wen-I to deliver a keynote speech titled “From London’s Urban Renaissance and Governmentality to Rethink the Governance of Our Cities” at the meeting.
  • Changed the address of the CAUM to 12F.-2, No. 81, Sec. 2, Chang-an East Road, Taipei City.

Events and achievements in 2011

Jun.
  • 6/18 Convened the First Board Meeting of 2011-13 Directors and Supervisors and subsequently submitted relevant documents to the Ministry of the Interior for registration and review.
Jul
  • 7/19-20 Organized speeches in coordination with the fieldwork conducted by the College of Urban Development at the Queensland University of Technology, stayed in touch with the fieldwork advisors of the university, and sought future cooperation with the university.
  • 7/25 The CAUM was approved and officially registered according to the official document (No. 1000141720) dated 25th July, 2011, from the Ministry of the Interior.
Aug.
  • 8/1 Opened the Facebook Group of the CAUM at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/groups/CAUM0618/ as a space for CAUM-related contact and discussion.
  • 8/3 The CAUM logo commissioned by Chief Director Lai Shih-Kung was designed and later officially launched on this date. The logo was then used in CAUM-related webpages and documents.
  • 8/8 Invited Associate Professor Yu Ju-Ling to be the CAUM’s contact person for Southern Taiwan and updated the information in the “Contact Us” page of the official website of the CAUM.
  • 8/25 Opened an additional account specifically for donation transfer (Postal Savings Account No.: 18017779; Account Name: Lai Shih-Kung); removed the word of “preparation” from the CAUM’s bank account name and changed it into “Chinese Association of Urban Management—Lai Shih-Kung” (Account No.: 520102088216, Fuxing Branch, Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank); and applied to the National Taxation Bureau for a tax registration number (Business Administration No.: 26333427).
  • 8/26 Convened the First Board Meeting of Standing Directors and Supervisors.
  • Planning of a continuing education course on “Land Development”— In addition to opening a “Land Development Training Course” at the Continuing Education Section of National Taipei University, the CAUM also started to plan a credit course on land development and negotiate with the university according to the decision made at the First Board Meeting of Standing Directors and Supervisors (8/26/2011). The course incorporated land development and urban renewal. It would be offered to professionals from relevant industries or people interested in this field mainly at the frequency of two evenings a week. Students successfully completing the entire course would be awarded with a course certificate.
Sep.
  • 9/13 Sent a letter to inform the Ministry of the Interior that the official stamp of the CAUM was entering into use.
  • Mid-September Applied to National Taipei University to rent an office in the Hejiang Campus of the university as the semi-permanent address of the CAUM (Rental: NT$ 700 per ping, 6 pings; Address: 5F., Ziqiang Building, Hejiang Street, Taipei City).
  • 9/9 The plan of “Land Development Training Course” was approved at the Departmental Affairs Meeting of the Department of Real Estate & Built Environment at National Taipei University, and the CAUM contacted the Continuing Education Section of the university for related affairs (the section replied in November).
Oct.
  • The International Program on Urban Governance (M.A. program) at National Taipei University was approved and would start to recruit students in 2012.
  • 10/28 (Fri.) Convened the Second Board Meeting of 2011-13 Directors and Supervisors.
Nov.
  • Launched the official website of the International Program on Urban Governance (IPUG) at http://www.ntpu.edu.tw/ipug/index.html. In charge of this program, Professor Lai Shih-Kung publicized a job recruitment notice for a full-time administrative assistant (details were posted on the website of the CAUM and relevant websites of National Taipei University). The IPUG planned to set up two research centers.
Dec.
  • 12/1 Moved into the new office at No. 68, Hejiang Street, Taipei City (5F., Ziqiang Building, National Taipei University).
  • 12/18 (Sun.) Convened the Third Board Meeting of 2011-13 Directors and Supervisors, issued certificates of election and appreciation to 2011-13 directors and supervisors, and invited Professor Chou Tsu-Lung to deliver a speech at the meeting.
  • At the Third Board Meeting of 2011-13 Directors and Supervisors, Professor Lai Shih-Kung was elected as the convener of the CAUM Committee, and Huang Jhong-You was elected as the convener of the Information Committee of CAUM Members (Brief Guidelines for the Committee of the Chinese Association of Urban Management) (The meeting minutes were submitted to relevant authorities for review, and the approval letter for this year was obtained).
